Tubes for Parkers Ears

So on Thursday I took Parker to the Ear, Nose, and Throat Dr. because the poor little guy has had ear infections from the day he was born. He has been so sad and pulling at his ears. My Dr. said that it was time to fix the problem. So we went to see Dr. Finlayson the expert on ears. When we got there he looked in his ears and said that both ears are infected as we speak and that we needed to not wait to put tubes in. "How does tomorrow sound?" I was like "WHAT????" I needed time to prepare for this. But we set the appointment for Friday 6/6/2008. They told me that he would be the first appointment of the morning because they have to come fasting. We got to the hospital at 6:15 am on Friday morning. They gave Parker some kind of sedative before they came and took him back, and while I was scared for him I couldn't help but laugh because the sedative made him act so funny. He had this goofy looking smile and every time Devin said "What are you doing?" he would laugh this funny laugh. He was so wasted. They gave him this toy that had lights and music that played and he just sat and looked at the colors. I am sure he was tripping out. But back to the story. They would have to put him out with IV Sedation. The anaesthesiologist came in and said that he would put the IV into his foot and that the surgery would take about 40 min. Then he asked for my son. It was so hard to just give him to a man I didn't know and let them take him someplace I didn't know and to put him to sleep. They told us to wait out in the waiting room and they would come and get us when it was over. They took him at 7:30am and at 8:10am Dr. Finlayson came and told us that it went well and they were all done. He said that when they pocket the hole into his eardrum that fluid started pouring out of his ears. He said that it was good that we did this. He told us that Parker was still asleep and that we could go see him when he woke up. So we waited again and at about 8:45am a nurse opened the door and had him in her arms asking him where his mommy was. I was so happy to see his little face. I got up and went to him. When I got to him he reached for me and had a big smile. We took him back into his room and they had me give him some juice. He took it great so after he had some food we changed him and went home. All in All it went great there wasn't any problems and he did great. I am so happy to have it over, and I hope and pray that his ears get better and wont bother him.

Oh! Poor sweet little guy! I'm sure it was hard on you as a mom, but so worth it in the long run so not have his ears bothering him.
